Hello Everyone,
This note is going out to all teams and officials. My intent is to review a few rules for our league, some of which are unique to our league.
a. We play 90 minute games rather than 80 minute games.
b. We allow two items of jewelry. If a person has a wedding band and/or an engagement ring, it may be worn. However, if there is a diamond on a ring, it should be turned toward the palm.
c. We allow fitbits. They are usually of soft material and adhere tightly to the wrist.
d. A sliding tackle that results in a foul will also be penalized with a yellow caution. If it is a legal sliding tackle, no foul is called and no card is given.
2. The 48 hour rule: We have a set schedule of games. However, we recognize that during the season, things come up which would result in a team not being able to field a full side. So, if a team knows that it will not be able to play a game, and they know this with 48 hours or more before the scheduled game, the captain notifies the opposing captain and me. The two captains then decide on a make-up date. There is no penalty in this case.
If within the 48 hour window, a team realizes it can not field a team, the captain notifies the opposing team and me. There is a fine of $75 which is paid directly to the offended team. This is recompense for the inconvenience of those players. The game is then rescheduled. If it cannot be rescheduled, it goes as a forfeit by the offending team. No further penalty or forfeiture of bond is imposed.
3. If there is a scheduled game and one team shows up without the required number of players (7). The game is a forfeit, the offending team forfeits its bond, which goes to pay the referees who were there to work a game. The game is not rescheduled and it is recorded as a 1-0 victory for the non-offending team. A team that forfeits also forfeits its bond and cannot play again until its bond is replenished.
4. Lastly, we do not mess with thunder and lightning. We adhere to the Vermont Principals Association guideline. There must be one half hour of neither lightning nor thunder in order for a game to continue or commence. In those cases, a shortened game will be agreed upon by captains and officials. If no game occurs, the league will pay the officials’ mileage.
We are less than two weeks away from the start of our season. Players, get those legs in shape. Officials, dig out those shoes, uniforms, and whistles. Let's have some fun.

GAMES ARE 90 MINUTES LONG CONSISTING OF 2X 45 MINUTE HALVES. IF AT THE END OF REGULATION PLAY, THERE IS A TIE, THERE CAN BE 2X 10 MINUTE OVERTIMES PLAYED AS GOLDEN GOAL.
IF AT THE START OF THE GAME ONE TEAM HAS LESS THAN 11 PLAYERS, THE GAME WILL BE PLAYED AS AN 80 MINUTE GAME WITH 2X 40 MINUTE HALVES AND NO OVERTIME.
IN THE EVENT THAT THE TEMPERATURE IS VERY HOT THAT DAY, AND BOTH TEAMS AGREE TO IT PRIOR, THEY CAN TAKE A TWO MINUTE WATER BREAK AFTER 20 MINUTES IN EACH HALF.
Several years ago, we put in place the 48-hour rule and it has alleviated most forfeits. If a team knows that they will not have enough players for a game and it is at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled match, the team captain will contact the opposing team and me. The two captains will determine a time for reschedule and notify me. No forfeit and no penalty will incur. I will notify the referees. These things happen. However, if within the 48 hours a team must reschedule, they notify the other team and me. They then are obligated to pay the other team $75. This is to mollify the effect on work schedules of the other team and perhaps the expense that the other team has with field rental or preparation. Again, the game is rescheduled. If the teams show up for a game, and one team either does not show or does not have the required number of players, the offending team forfeits the game AND their bond. The bond pays the referees who showed up expecting a game. That team may not play another game until the bond has been replenished.
PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO WHERE SHINGUARDS DURNING PLAY.
UNIFORMS SHOULD HAVE VISIBLE NUMBERS ON THE BACKS OF THE JERSEY. ALL PLAYERS SHOULD WEAR THE SAME COLOR JERSESY TOP. IN THE EVENT THAT TWO TEAMS SHOW UP IN THE SAME COLOR, THE HOME TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WEARING PINNIES.
PLAYERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WEAR JEWELRY. THERE ARE A FEW EXCEPTIONS; WEDDING RINGS ARE PERMITTED IF THE PROTRUDING STONE IS TURNED IN TOWARDS THE PALM, FIT BITS ARE ALSO PERMITTED AS WELL AS MEDICAL BRACELETS.
Game fee for officials is $75 per official. If an official has to travel more than 15 miles, one way, to arrive at the game site, an additional 5 dollars is awarded to help pay for the gas. Also, captains, do not wait until the end of the game to pay the officials. You have other duties and it is not fair to make them wait while you meet with your team and collect equipment. Pay them at the pre-game coin toss or at half-time.
SLIDE TACKLING IS PERMITTED, HOWEVER IF THE TACKLE IS UNCLEAN AND THE BALL IS MISSED AND CONTACT IS MADE OR THE TACKLE IS MADE FROM BEHIND, THE PLAYER WILL BE AWARDED A YELLOW CARD AND ASKED TO LEAVE THE FIELD, HOWEVER, A SUBSTITUTION MAY BE MADE.
It is the job of the officials to keep the official score and time of the game. At the end of the match, the officials should tell each captain the final score. Also, if any cards were given, officials must report that to me, by email. I keep a tally and there are consequences to acquiring cards. (Five yellows in a season result in a one game suspension. A red card results in ejection and disqualification for the next game). Captains, please report your score to Becky Tisbert, our tech person, within 24 hours. She has indicated that it is fine just to shoot her a text before you leave the field; 802-735-3328, you can also email her at tisbertrebecca@yahoo.com

Hello Everyone,
There is less than a week until the end of the regular season and just one week until our playoffs begin. I know there are always variables that can happen as the season winds down, but it looks to me that the top four teams are set. However, their seeds as 1,2,3, and 4 are not set. The games this week will settle that and so it is important for those teams to report game results quickly to Becky.
Because a winner must evolve in each playoff game, the following tie-breaker procedure will be used:
* Games must begin as close to 6:00 pm as possible in order to allow daylight for breaking a potential tie.
* If at the end of regulation time, the game is tied, a 5 minute rest period will be observed.
* A flip of a coin will determine kicking team and side of field.
* Two 10 minute golden goal overtime periods will be played.
* If at the end of those two periods the game is still tied, each team will select 5 players to take penalty kicks.
* Coin will again be flipped to determine which team shoots first. Players will alternate kicks up to 5.
* If the score is still tied, the same 5 kickers or a different combination will take a second set of 5.
* This continues until a winner evolves.
All playoffs will be played at the Tree Farm. Semis will be played on Tuesday, August 6 with the finals on Friday, August 9.
